Rueda de Casino is a group form of Salsa. It is danced in a circle made up of two, three, four, or even more couples. One of the dancers is a “caller”, who signals the next move … which all the “casineros” then do at the same time. Some moves are CASINO (couples don’t change partners) and some are RUEDA (group moves in which couples change partners). It’s fun, fast-paced, very social … and we love it! At the bottom of this page, watch the video of one of our Rueda de Casino performances.
We teach an OPEN, DROP-IN CLASS every WEDNESDAY evening which includes formal instruction in the basics of both CASINO (dancing as a couple) and 2-couple RUEDA (an introduction to dancing in a group). No partner or prior experience necessary. We offer an OPEN, DROP-IN PRACTICE on most (but not all) FRIDAY evenings as well for all casineros (all levels). We invite everyone to join our free OPEN, outdoor DROP-IN PRACTICE on SUNDAY afternoons. For more information about these opportunities (as well as about our other group practices on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays), please check our practices page.
Thank you for coming to our recent April Salsa social! Next is the New York City Rueda Saturday/Sunday, May 5-6.
Watch our dozens of Rueda de Casino video lessons that we have posted on YouTube.
We are always happy to teach, perform, dance or all three. If you have an event and you’d like us to participate, please contact us.
Our old Wikispaces site is not kept up-to-date … but it has tons of pictures of good friends who have danced in Boston Rueda over the years!
