The vast majority of “Salsa Cubana” instructors teach their classes with the couples arranged in a circle. The default routine became: practice a figure, change partners, practice it again, change partners, practice a third time, etc. Consequently, for many dancers, this approach became the very definition of “Rueda de Casino”: a series of “couple figures” separated by a call to change partners. The result is a STATIC RUEDA: leaders move from “station to station” dancing with followers one-by-one while executing the cantante’s calls.
